Student visa has always remained a very popular immigration category and that has now undergone substantial amendments. Now the criteria has become more straight forward but stringent in respect of students who wish to enter the UK to study or prolong their visas.

Initial Applications
The applicants are required to score 30 points for visa letter and 10 points under maintenance sections in order to seek entry clearance or leave to remain as a student in the UK under Tier 4 (G).

Points can be claimed as under:

1.Visa Letter: 30 points. This is a confirmation of enrolment given by a Tier 4 Licensed educational institution giving all the necessary details regarding the enrolment, details of course, details of applicant, required documents and payment of fees.
2.Maintenance: 10 points. The applicant can claim 10 points under this section by showing the required amount of money (Please see tables below) for maintenance, in addition to the balance remaining for the first years tuition fee.

Successful applicants are given leave to remain or entry clearance for the whole duration of course and also given some extra time. The visa can further be extended to do another course in the UK, if the applicant wishes to continue his studies.
